My Crochet Journey(Hilda)

My name is Hilda Wavamuno Nalutaaya, I am a Crochet jewelry maker.
I started crocheting way back in primary school as part of our extracurricular activities after classes. My first crochet projects were bags and table cloths, which I would give to my mom to sell at her workplace. After primary school, I still crocheted but only once in a while.
In 2017, I came across some stunning crochet earrings while scrolling through Pinterest and that moment sparked my interest in crochet jewelry. After researching, I realized that not many people in Uganda were making crochet earrings, so I decided to give it a try. I started experimenting with different designs, and today, we have about 10 unique jewelry styles—but our crochet boho earrings remain the best sellers!
Crocheting gives me a deep sense of purpose. There’s something truly special about transforming a simple hook and thread into a beautiful, wearable piece of art.
